WARNING: contains spoilers
My mum and I saw Wicked last Sunday night (my ticket was a Christmas gift from her and dad) and it was fantastic! Mom and I were in the first row and so close to the conductor that I could have tapped him on the shoulder and complemented his amazing work. Here were some of the especially excellent parts:
- Elphaba, played by Meredith Kaye Clark, actually not so wicked!
- Glinda, played by Marissa Lupp, actually not so good (although Marissa herself was terrific)!
- the crazy, beautiful, strange costumes, wigs, and boots!
- knowing every single word!
- watching the conductor having such obvious fun!
- sexy Richard H. Blake playing Fiyero!
- old man Richard Kline playing the not-so Wonderful Wizard!
- a happy ending!
I love musical theatre and have ever since I was introduced to it by my friend Mandy in middle school or so. She particularly loved The Phantom of the Opera and dreamed of someday playing Christine Daae. There's something absolutely magical about
Few experiences thrill me so thoroughly that I wish that they wouldn't end. Or that it would end and then promptly start over again at the beginning. Wicked was one of them. Thanks, Mom and Dad!
