Do You Know Urie?

If you're familiar with Urie Bronfenbrenner, the father of the Head Start program and lifelong advocate of children, you are certainly not surprised to know that he's showing up in my HDEV textbooks already. Guess what, friends! I knew Urie, who died in 2005, and his wife Liese when I worked at Kendal at Ithaca where they lived. He was a sweet man and his wife was devoted and caring. Read the obituary on my influential and fascinating acquaintance via Cornell.

Kirk Shreve

My friend and mentor, Kirk Shreve, died unexpectedly three years and two weeks ago. Kirk was a really stellar guy; I learned so much from him. He buried my Grandma Mastroberti six months before he died.

He keeps an eye on me. I know he's around.

I hope he knows how much he means to me.

RIP, Kirk. I wish we had more time together.

Please read this obituary written by the older brother of the deceased, thirty year-old Matt Durham who died unexpectedly. It is an awesome tribute.

RIP, Matt.
